Resilient Together

Happy Spring from the Resilient Together team!

We hope you've taken a moment this week to cherish the fresh new pops of color from bluebells and budding trees! It’s been a while since you’ve heard from us, and we’re sharing some fun ways to celebrate our home planet around Earth Day and opportunities for you to stay involved throughout the year.

First, a little housekeeping

This email list was originally meant to update you on the Resilient Together climate action plan. Beverly and Salem staff continue to coordinate on initiatives like the Beverly & Salem Energy Challenge, but each City is up to LOTS of good work:

  • Salem residents, sign up here for the Department of Sustainability and Resiliency newsletter.
  • Beverly residents, sign up here for updates from the Sustainability Office.

Now onto the good stuff…

BEVERLY

Share your love for our home planet at Beverly Earth Fest at Lynch Park on April 23 from 12-3 pm, co-hosted with Green Beverly. Enjoy live music, games, local food and beer, and an incredible line-up of creative, interactive, educational stations hosted by our wildest and greenest partners!

Earth Fest

Do you love living in a city that is nationally recognized and a state leader for our climate action? Do you want to help make our community even better? We have three exciting opportunities for you to get involved locally and make a real impact!

Special Event Volunteer – multiple openings. We’re looking for enthusiastic Beverly residents ready to join a group of your community-minded neighbors, roll up your sleeves, and help out on a single-day basis at special events throughout the year. We’d also like to follow Salem’s model for Repair Cafes or “Fix-it Clinics” to coordinate volunteer sewists, tinkerers, and other handy people to help repair and restore your neighbors’ stuff. Please fill out this event volunteer form and we’ll be in touch!

Waste Reduction Committee -- Seeking FOUR members. This volunteer team is focused on reducing waste, promoting recycling practices, and expanding composting throughout our city. As a member of this committee, you'll have the opportunity to work on exciting projects like zero waste stations at festivals, special educational and recycling events, and policy initiatives aimed at reducing our waste. Whether you're a seasoned environmental activist or just getting started on your sustainability journey, there's a place for you on this committee. We're looking for passionate, dedicated residents ready to "talk trash" and reduce, reuse, recycle!

Styrofoam volunteers

Clean Energy Advisory Committee (CEAC) – Seeking ONE member. This group of passionate volunteers is committed to promoting clean energy solutions, strategies to reduce our carbon footprint, and education for Beverly residents and businesses. As a member of this committee, you will have the opportunity to work with local leaders, organize community events, and help shape City policy. We're welcoming diverse voices and backgrounds on the CEAC, so if you have professional or lived experience with renewable energy, energy efficiency, electric vehicles, environmental justice, community organizing, event management, communications and social media, or another skill or connection you'd like to share, JOIN US!

In addition to the rewarding work you'll be doing, you'll also have the opportunity to meet your neighbors with shared passions, learn new skills, and have fun throughout the year.

If you're ready to get involved and make a difference, we encourage you to join the next CEAC meeting on the third Wednesday of the month at 6:30 pm and/or the Waste Reduction Committee meeting on the first Thursday at 6:30 pm! For more information, peruse the Sustainability website and check out the CEAC website and/or WRC website. Questions? Contact Erina at ekeefe@beverlyma.gov.
