Resilient Together

Dear Beverly and Salem community members,

We hope you are enjoying this mild day after persevering through the first heat wave of the year! We're writing with some news:

The Resilient Together draft plan is here!

After a nearly year-long process, we're excited to share the fruits of our collective labor and we invite your review and feedback of this draft plan by Sunday, June 20th. This climate action and resilience plan contains lots of thoughtful and creative input from you, and we want to know what you think! The plan and a Google Form where you can contribute comments ("Send Feedback"), section by section, are both available here.

Resilient Together - engagement

Here’s what our Mayors have to say:

“I encourage all Salem residents to provide their feedback on the draft plan from Resilient Together. Resilient Together has been working to develop an action plan to ensure a safe and thriving region, better prepared to face the challenges of climate change. Now it needs your input to be complete and ready for implementation. Here in Salem, we’re committed to acting on the plan’s action items, through the creation of an entirely new Department of Sustainability, Energy, and Resiliency, focused on taking on this important and time-sensitive work.” – Salem Mayor Kim Driscoll

“This plan, the result of months of public engagement and deep analysis of how we can best cut our greenhouse gas emissions and address coastal flooding and other impacts of climate change, is essential to our communities' future. We're excited to share this draft plan; please give us your feedback.  Climate change is our shared challenge, and we need everyone's best ideas and efforts.” – Beverly Mayor Mike Cahill

Looking ahead

Once we incorporate your feedback, we’ll finalize the plan and shift focus toward its community-wide implementation. We’ve already gotten started on our next collaborative project. This summer, Beverly and Salem will launch a community outreach campaign for building retrofits, funded by a year-long Accelerating Climate Resiliency grant from MAPC.

Though the plan is nearly complete, we invite all community members to stay engaged now and into the future on our collective climate action. Keep an eye on our new Climate Action Dashboard, which we’ll update with progress toward our goals, share exciting news, and invite ongoing collaboration.
