Hi. This is Mayor Mike Cahill with two Monday evening announcements. First, later this week, the city will offer free COVID-19 testing for any Beverly resident. The testing will take place at Lynch Park on Wednesday and Thursday mornings from 8 AM – 12 Noon, and on Saturday from 8 AM – 1 PM. If you are in line by the ending time, you will be able to wait and be tested. Please note this test is not the more invasive PCR nasal pharyngeal test; this is the PCR nasal swab, where a sample is taken from the front of the nose. Please take advantage of this free testing opportunity this Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday mornings at Lynch Park. More information can be found on the city website – www.beverlyma.gov – on the COVID-19 page. Also, thanks to leadership from our Community Preservation Committee and our City Council, the city recently set up a residential rental assistance program for those residents deeply financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. This program will assist Beverly residents who have experienced difficulty in paying rent as a direct result of the loss of income due to the pandemic, and who are not eligible for other forms of assistance. To be eligible, applicants must have a household income at or below 100% of area median income – for example, this would be $119,000 for a family of four. We recognize the incredible pressures people are facing now, and we hope this program helps keep Beverly residents in their homes. Our partners at North Shore Community Action Programs are administering this program, so please reach out to them at nscap.org/funds2020/ or email funds2020@nscap.org to learn more about the program and check your eligibility. All inquiries are confidential. Thank you Everyone for listening, and have a nice evening.
