Hi and Happy 2021 – Here’s hoping for a healthy new year with a return to what we all know and love. This is Mayor Mike Cahill with a Monday evening update. First, we have been getting questions about Christmas tree pickup. Our trash and recycling hauler, JRM, will pick your tree up on your regular trash and recycling day from tomorrow through next Monday, so please put your Christmas tree out at the curb before your regular pick up day. Next Monday will be the last day they will pick up Christmas trees.
Second, as you already know, COVID-19 transmission rates are up and our hospitals are seeing more Covid patients sick enough to be admitted. With vaccinations having already begun for front line health care workers and long term care facility staff and residents, and with first responders getting vaccinated starting next week, things are looking up – but until the vaccine is available for everyone, we still have to be careful. Wearing masks, keeping your distance, washing your hands frequently and not gathering indoors with people outside your household are still what’s needed.
Also, this winter, our friends at the Beverly Senior Center want to remind you that physical distancing doesn't have to mean isolation or loneliness. The staff at the Senior Center want to hear from you – our Beverly seniors - this winter, no matter your need. Whether you need help with things like finding a new place to live or keeping your pantry full, if you are looking for extra help around the house or a ride around town, or you just would like a friendly person to talk with on the phone or to stop by your front door to say hello from outside, the Senior Center can help. Please call the Senior Center at 978-921-6017.
We also want to remind all Beverly residents to reach out to friends, family, and neighbors, especially older adults who may be more isolated this winter. If you need an idea for how to reach out in a safe way or you have a concern about someone you know, please call the Senior Center at 978-921-6017. Thank you all, and have a good evening.
