What Can Be Recycled
Beverly is a dual stream, not a single stream curbside pickup community (see our handout (JPG)). There is no limit to the amount of recycling you may put out each week!
It is important to follow these guidelines:
Paper & Cardboard (Keep Separate from Glass, Metal, Plastic)
- All junk mail (plastic windows removed).
- Clean paperboard (cereal and cracker boxes), egg cartons, clean pizza and cereal boxes.
- Corrugated cardboard - flattened, and bundled cut to less than 36 inches in any dimension- place next to other recyclables.
- Magazines/catalogs and phone books.
- Newspaper with inserts.
- No cartons (milk, juice, etc.) - Considered trash.
- No plastic bags - Bring to grocery store with bread, newspaper and dry cleaning bags.
- Note, copy, and scrap paper.
- Place in brown paper bags on top of your recycling bin, or in its own recycling container. (not larger than 32 gallons, not weighing more than 40 pounds). Please place separate from trash.
Glass, Plastic & Metal (Mix Together)
- All clean plastic containers labeled with 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7 symbol. Considered trash if not.
- All clean plastic food containers- with 1,2,3,4,5,6,or 7 symbol. Considered Trash if not.
- Glass bottles/ jars (all colors and sizes) - No broken or other glass such as light bulbs, window or auto glass, dishes, glasses, Pyrex.
- Loose containers only - no plastic bags.
- Metal cans, clean aluminum foil and aerosol cans - No paint cans.
- No cartons (milk, juice, etc.) - Considered trash.
- No motor oil or chemical containers.
- No Styrofoam. Considered trash.
- Place in a recycling bin or another container (not larger than 32 gallons, not weighing more than 40 pounds). Please place separate from trash.
Textile Recycling
The City of Beverly is affiliated with Baystate Textiles School Box Program. Boxes are located at all Beverly Public Schools.
