IMPORTANT TRASH INFORMATION
Trash is required to be stored in watertight, rodent-proof barrels with tight fitting covers per City Ordinance Section 14.03.
The City does not provide trash barrels. They may be purchased at many retailers/ hardware stores. The maximum size of each barrel is 32 gallons and may not weigh more than 40 pounds. This rule is rigorously enforced for safety and health reasons.
Effective May 14, 2018, there is a 2 Barrel Limit for Trash. OVERFLOW TRASH BAGS are an option in the event you exceed the two barrel limit. One Official Beverly Overflow Bag may be placed with your two barrels per week. They are available to purchase for $10 per roll of 5 at several local retailers and the Engineering Department at City Hall.
You may also put out ONE Bulk Item per week. A “Bulk Item” is an ITEM, NOT Trash, Construction Debris, Hazardous Waste, etc. It is an ITEM that will not fit in your 32 gallon trash barrel. Example: One mattress, or One table, or One couch, or One box spring, or One chair, or One microwave etc…
Trash and Recycling must be out by 7:00 am on your trash day regardless of when the trucks “usually” come. This includes yard waste on weeks where there is leaf collection. Please note that Trash, Recycle and Yard Waste may not be put Curbside earlier than 18 hours before your trash day per City Ordinance Section 14.03.
Please be mindful of the weather conditions and help prevent windblown litter by properly securing your trash and recycling. Click here for the Holiday and Leaf Calendar.
Please encourage your friends and neighbors to recycle, thus diverting trash from landfills to other uses, saving money and helping preserve the environment by reducing pollution and saving energy. There is NO LIMIT to the amount of RECYCLING you may put out each week! Click here for Bin availability and pricing information.
Residents with trash and recycling questions that are not answered on the City’s website can call 978-605-2355 during City Hall business hours.
