September 13, 2020 – Message from Mayor Cahill

Hi.  This is Mayor Mike Cahill with a Sunday evening update.  I hope you are doing well.  With confirmed positive COVID-19 cases and hospitalization rates locally for COVID both low and holding steady, we plan to open City Hall and other city buildings to the public starting tomorrow.  Offices will be open during regular posted hours.  However, access will be limited in some ways, so please look for more detailed information on our website starting tomorrow.  At City Hall, the public will be able to conduct transactions at our first floor departments with safety equipment and measures in place to protect everyone.  We will limit the number of people in the building, and you may need to wait to gain entry.  Also, we remind you that you can continue to conduct much of your business online, by mail, or by phone.  For offices without walkup windows, including the Engineering, Planning, and Inspectional Services departments, please call ahead and make an appointment, as we have set up several meeting spaces for this purpose. The library will offer this week a combination of indoor computer time by appointment, outdoor tabletop book browsing, and front door pickup of books ordered online.  Please look to their website for more information. Our team at the Senior Center is working hard to offer more programming, and we hope to share more information later this week.

Friends, as we open up and do more during this time, please keep in mind that the virus is still here – and as has been the case all along, our best defenses to keep our loved ones, neighbors and ourselves safe from this virus are to continue to wear a mask whenever we are around others, keep our distance from each other, wash our hands frequently, and stay home when we don’t feel well. We look forward to seeing your smiling eyes above your mask when you do visit City Hall or one of our other public buildings.  Just knowing you’re doing well and picturing the smile beneath your mask to match those smiling eyes is a blessing.  Thank you, All, for everything each of you have been doing and continue to do to keep our community safe.  Have a nice evening.
