The Brimbal Ave – Exit 19 Interchange Improvement Project is intended to promote safety, decrease congestion and improve access to properties in the Tozer/Sohier/Dunham Road area. The project has been divided into two phases. The first phase involves the redesign of the Connector Road leading from the Route 128 exit ramp to Brimbal Avenue. The second phase of the project would require the construction of an overpass across Route 128 and improved direct local access to the highway, thereby reducing traffic volume and congestion in residential neighborhoods from visitors to the North Shore Music Theatre and other area businesses. Phase I improvements are being funded by a MassWorks Infrastructure grant. Construction has started and the contract has been awarded to the Dow Company.
