City of Beverly 2018 Hazard Mitigation Plan
Natural hazard mitigation planning is the process of determining how to systematically reduce or eliminate the loss of life and property damage resulting from natural hazards such as floods, winter storms, hurricanes and other natural events. Hazard mitigation means to permanently reduce or alleviate the loss of life, injury and property resulting from natural hazards through long-term strategies. These long-term strategies include planning, policy changes, programs, projects and other activities.
This is the 2nd update of the City’s Hazard Mitigation Plan, the first plan was adopted in 2006. A FEMA Hazard Mitigation Plan must be in place in order to qualify for FEMA grants.
