The Beverly Public Library and various community partners were recently awarded a Townwide Preservation Assessment Grant. The grant provides preservation assessment services for critical document collections and is the first step toward preserving, arranging, describing, and digitizing historically significant local collections for public access. The grant is valued at around $25,000. Participating grant recipients include: Beverly City Clerk’s Office, Beverly Engineering Department and Cemetery Department, Endicott College’s Halle Library, Montserrat College of Art’s Paul M. Scott Library, and First Parish Church in Beverly.
Funding for the grant was made possible through Library Services and Technology Act funds administered by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners. The Preservation Assessments will be undertaken by the Preservation Services staff of the Northeast Document Conservation Center in Andover, MA.
