BEVERLY – The City of Beverly has achieved one of the top scores in the Consecutive System category of the 2018 Public Water Systems awards program. Extended by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection’s (MassDEP) Drinking Water Program, Beverly achieved outstanding performance in 2017.

The public water supplies in Massachusetts are among the best in the country, and they are subject to the most stringent government standards in the world. To protect your health, both the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and MassDEP maintain exacting standards. MassDEP requires your local water supplier to perform ongoing tests for the presence of bacteria, lead and other heavy metals, herbicides and pesticides, and industrial solvents. While most systems strive just to comply with regulations, MassDEP commended the City of Beverly for, “putting forth an extra effort for many years.”
